Iberdrola, Spain's largest energy provider, and Prosolia, a Spanish developer of solar mounting structure projects, will jointly invest 850 million euros to build four solar power parks in Spain with a total capacity of 360 MEGAwatts by 2025, Prosolia said in a statement to Photovoltaic magazine. And build a 1140MW solar power plant in Portugal.
Portugal's solar bracket project will be located in Santiago de Cassem, about 200 kilometers south of Lisbon. Iberdrola will take a 50 per cent stake in the plant. Prosolia subsidiary Sunshining has completed the project plan and is currently under review by the local environment department. The plant will use Tesla batteries.
Details of the four power plants the two companies are building in Spain have not been made public. Pedro Pestana, a member of Prosolia's board, told Reuters yesterday: "There is also the possibility of cooperation on new projects. This partnership is in line with Iberdrola's goal of expanding the Portuguese market and Prosolia becoming a benchmark in Europe." Prosolia also won a project in a 2019 auction of solar mounting systems organized by the Portuguese government.
